DBC Contractors Ltd is a Part of the Airdrie Community

Don and Irene

Don Beddoes was not only an accomplished business leader, but also a community pioneer. Don was born near Madden, Alberta and farmed west of Crossfield. Don attended the Provincial Institute of Technology and Art (now SAIT) and obtained his welding certificate. Soon after, Don purchased his first gravel truck and started his road construction company in 1962. He saw no limits and worked tirelessly to build his company into what we know today as DBC Contractors Ltd Don's infinite strength of character reached beyond his zest for construction; he treated his long-time employees with respect and loyalty. You could often hear Don say, “Shake the hand of a working man.”

Don was not only a visionary, but an industrious community innovator. Don gave back to his community without seeking any recognition. Over his many years as a community icon he contributed to many rodeos and other local initiatives. In recognition for more than 30 years of supporting regional rodeo events in Airdrie, Crossfield, Strathmore, Innisfail and Sundre, Don was inducted into the Canadian Historical Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2003.

In the spirit of Don's memory, DBC Contractors Ltd continues to support:

  • Airdrie Pro Rodeo
  • Pete Knight Rodeo in Crossfield
  • Pioneer Acres of Alberta in Irricana
  • Airdrie Air Show
  • Airdrie Food Bank
  • Airdrie Summer Games (2014)
